Coin Very

i have a very old coin grek i think it has a female face on one side and a owl standing with aoe on other it l
the coin originally looked like those at coin shows for a couple of dollars i bought one. when i got home i noticed a small bit of a golden color. i took 5 days to clean it propelry distilled water , a special grime remover it sat in 3 days. when i was done it turned out to be solid gold i,m sure it is not bronze, it is a beautiful coin from the roman period as depicted in its face, but the greeks did the same. the owl is standing with very wide open eyes, it looks like 2 or 3 leaves near the owls right sholder.it is heavy as a piece of solid gold this thick would be, it seems to have been hand hammered but all seams are conected beautifully.i may have a winner here any info would be appreciated. thanks whiteswan200000 joe
I have an authentic coin you are referring to. It is an Athenian Tetradrachm, but it was ONLY struck in silver, never gold. This was/is one of the most famous coins in the history of the world, and has been copied in antiquity, medieval times, and in modern times. It has been forged so often that a book covering the copies would be hundreds of pages long.
The first thing to look for is a seam on the side of the coin. Look at the edge and see if there is a raised line, (seam), or if there are file marks, (to remove seam). Most forgeries were cast, and therefor have a telltale seam. Authentic coins were struck. Actually, most copies were never made to deceive the public, but made as souvenirs for people to buy from museums. By the way, the golden colored metal would be brass, (orichalcum in antiquity), and it is very heavy.
Most likely, (almost surely), your coin is a copy, but even some of them are collectible and worth money. You might want to show it to a dealer who specializes in Ancients and s/he can both verify what I have told you, and tell you if it is an old collectible copy. If it were a real silver Tet, it would be worth $200-$1000.

The amount of coins that have not judge their ability in the coin collection. Something important thing to consider is the quality. Coins are graded on a scale 0 to 70, which was presented by Dr. William Shelby, and this process is called "Penny Whimsy".
The following are the methods that are classified currencies:
1. Mint State Coins
These types of coins, worth about about 60 to 70 in the scale. This type of coin has no blemishes at all. Amount of coins that fall into this category are bright, new, brand-new, and out of circulation.
2. About Uncirculated coins
"Almost Uncirculated "coins have value 50 to 58 in the scale of Doctor of Shelby.
The coin collectors should always know the points of high points in this type of currency. The best way to check the coin is to see the difference in the reflection of light at different points high. This is the specialty of "Almost Uncirculated "coins, and this is how it differs from the mint state coins.
3. Fine Coins
This type of exchange are classified as well as:
(i) Extremely Fine coins ranging from 40 to 45. Glossy Mint will be present in this currency.
(ii) Very Fine coins ranging from 20 to 30 or even 35. These are coins that could have been in use for about 1 to 3 years, and the minor details, can not be present more.
(iii) Fine Currencies range 10 to 20, depending on the proximity of the details of the coin. These coins are usually worn, but they have their design.
4. Good Currencies
These coins are of three types, "Very Good coins, and" Good Coin "and" almost acceptable coins.
The most intricate details would be gone. However, the designs will remain weak, and can be observed. Otherwise, the high points in the currency are soft.
In general, the "Very Good Coin" get to have the tires completely and the mint mark, along with the date is visible in the case of "Good Currencies "." Coins are good almost worn out!
5. Coin Fair
These types of coins are totally exhausted, but can be identified with what remains. While it is identifiable, it is good!
6. Basal Currencies
These types of coins can be identified as coins, but then what type of currency that is, it's hard to say.
These are the classifications under which the coins can be graded. Always remember that knowledge of classification of the coins will give you an edge in their coin collecting Spree.
