Who is actually selling the “rare” coins from the TV commercials?

Those commercials about “Uncirculated, Rare, never happen again” coins. Is that our government making money? are they made at our US Mints?

It is not the U.S. mint but private companies that are not really on the up and up. You can get better deals from your local coin dealers. If you notice the small print at the bottom says they are not affiliated with the mint or treasury department. That keeps them most of the time from getting sued by the mint. Some coins were made by our mint and some are by private or foreign mints like Liberia. it is not illegal to sell coins minted by our mints. In fact there are a lot of gold plated and painted state quarters out there and our mint only produced what is under the gold and paint. They do not make them that way. I hate to see people being taken. Most TV items will have little to no future value and are a terrible investment.

Collectors of coins, old and new, have always wondered if the currency or currencies in their possession worth more than the face value today – or in the foreseeable future.

Even though, that a currency that has little or no monetary value is not necessarily one I could not support or be part of a collection of coins.

The following are basic factors that could affect the value of a coin.

How rare or uncommon in the United Nations-is?

In general, the notion that everyone knows and follows it: the rarer a coin of higher value of the currency. This rule is true in some cases, and – fortunately or unfortunately — false in others.

There was a situation in a Chinese coin, a thousand years, was sold for only a few dollars because there were many thousand China years available. Compare this with a de facto currency only in 1913, a particular currency called a head of Liberty, which could sell for (hold your breath), a million dollars! It is known that only five of these coins exist, hence the enormous monetary value.

This is the currency in good condition?

The better the condition of the coin, the better the price that would bring in the market, because the level of the currency would be the height of his condition. A currency that is in perfect condition – add to this that is basically a coin out of circulation – is actually worth a hundred times more than a similar coin that is in the midst of circulated condition.

Supply and demand

Sometimes, when demand for a specific currency is high, the value of the currency – despite the number of them available – is so high.
Take the example of the coin dated 1916-D, and compared with the value of a coin dated 1798. Many people prefer to collect coins 20th century rather than those that are of 1700. The 1916-D dimes sell higher than much older 1798 coins. The fact that there are more (approximately four thousand) 1916-D coins are dimes from the year 1798 (only about thirty thousand), does little to affect the price of each.

It is better a professional coin dealer grade of the coin (s) and to determine the value of any coin (s) you may have. Who knows, it could be worth more (or less) than you think.
